Our Executive Committee met this evening to recap the recent State Central Committee meeting, which we felt went smoothly, and to finalize our schedule for the remainder of the year. We addressed a conflict on December 4th and decided to cancel our regular general membership meeting; instead, we are encouraging all our members to attend the Healthy Climate NM gubernatorial candidate forum happening that same night, while our Chair represents us at the inter-caucus meeting. We also discussed our continued monitoring of the Public Power initiative regarding the PNM merger and brainstormed future podcast content, including potential deep dives into the New Mexico State Constitution. Finally, we coordinated necessary updates for our website and social media to keep our membership informed before adjourning for the night.

We are expanding our influence through increased outreach, a new podcast, and collaboration with other caucuses. Our current advocacy focuses on mitigating federal funding cuts, protecting public utilities from private equity buyouts, and addressing the state's critical water crisis. By tracking legislative progress and engaging the community, we remain committed to moving New Mexico forward.

We focused on political action, voting to join the Public Power New Mexico Coalition to oppose the private equity takeover of PNM. We also discussed legislative strategy for the upcoming session, including aligning with other caucuses on "deal-breaker" issues and the process for drafting new bills, such as one for single-payer healthcare. Looking ahead to the 2026 primary, we plan to invite candidates for governor and other statewide offices to speak at future meetings and will develop a questionnaire to clarify their positions.
